NBA 2K25 MyTeam: Ranking the Top 10 Small Forwards

Oct-05-2024 PST

Today we’re breaking down and ranking the top 10 small forwards in NBA 2K25’s MyTeam mode. Small forwards are a crucial position, offering a unique mix of size, speed, defense, and scoring ability.

Before we get into the rankings, I want to clarify a few things:

1. No Shooting Guards: I won’t be including players that are typically used as shooting guards, even if they technically can play small forward. So, Michael Jordan won’t appear on this list.

2. No Power Forwards: Some players may fit both small forward and power forward roles, but if I primarily use them at power forward, they won’t be here. For example, cards like Shareef Abdur-Rahim won't cut.

3. One Card Per Player: To keep things varied, there will only be one card per player on this list. Even if you think Tracy McGrady at small forward is a top-five pick, I’ve already ranked him as a shooting guard.

With that out of the way, let’s dive into the top 10 small forwards in NBA 2K25 MyTeam.

10. Luguentz Dort

 • Height: 6'4"

 • Key Stats: 84 Three-Point Shot, 85 Driving Dunk, 86 Ball Handling

 • Value: Low-tier, budget-friendly option

Starting us off at number 10 is a surprising pick—Luguentz Dort. When this card was first released, I wasn’t particularly fond of it. But the more I’ve played with and against him, the more I’ve come to appreciate his defensive prowess and wide player build. Sure, 6'4" is a little undersized for the small forward position, but Dort more than makes up for it with his lockdown defense. He’s also one of the cheapest options on this list, making him an excellent choice if you’re on a budget.

Pro tip: Look for one that’s already badged up or comes at a lower price than his typical auction value. Dort might not blow you away offensively, but he’s reliable on both ends of the court.

9. Rui Hachimura (Gems of the Game)

 • Height: 6'8"

 • Key Stats: 85 Driving Dunk, 83 Perimeter Defense, 83 Interior Defense

 • Value: Hidden Gem

At number 9, we have Rui Hachimura from the "Gems of the Game" set. Rui stands at 6'8" and brings a balanced skill set to the small forward position. His release is a bit funky, but he excels defensively and is a solid rebounder. You can typically find him for a reasonable price, especially if you snipe him in the auction house.

To maximize value with Rui, I recommend looking for cards in the "Gems of the Game" section and finding a snipe. He’s a great addition if you need a defensive presence with some offensive upside.

8. Jerome Kersey

 • Height: 6'7"

 • Key Stats: 83 Three-Point Shots, 85 Driving Dunk

 • Value: Mid-tier

Jerome Kersey comes in at number 8. While he has decent size and a strong player build, Kersey leaves something to be desired in terms of consistency. His 83 three-ball is good, but not elite, and defensively, he’s only okay. If you fully badge him out, he can be more impactful, but his ceiling feels somewhat limited compared to other small forwards.

7. James Posey (Gems of the Game)

 • Height: 6'8"

 • Key Stats: 86 Three-Point Shots, 88 Steals, 88 Perimeter Defense

 • Value: High value for price

James Posey has long been one of my favorite cards, and he comes in at number 7. With an 86 three-ball and top-tier defense, Posey is a versatile option who can easily slide between the small forward and power forward positions. He has a smooth release and is fully badged out, which makes him a steal if you can get him for under 30,000 MT. Anything higher, and you might want to reconsider.

Posey is an easy choice if you want a reliable 3-and-D player. If you upgrade your small forward position, he’s versatile enough to transition to the backup spot or even play some power forward.

6. Glenn Rice

 • Height: 6'8"

 • Key Stats: 97 Three-Point Shot

 • Value: Overpriced

Glenn Rice lands at number 6, mostly because of his insane three-point shooting—97 from deep is no joke. However, he’s a one-dimensional player. His defense is mediocre, and his ability to attack the rim is just average. I don’t think he’s worth the 100,000 MT he’s currently going for, but if you love shooting, he could be the guy for you.

5. Kiki Vandeweghe

 • Height: 6'8"

 • Key Stats: 88 Three-Point Shot

 • Value: Great mid-tier option

Kiki Vandeweghe edges out Glenn Rice for the number 5 spot. Kiki has a similar shooting profile but is slightly better on the defensive side of the ball. Plus, he’s generally cheaper, making him a more budget-friendly option. When I played against Kiki, he impressed me more than I expected, so he’s earned a solid spot in the top 5.

4. Harrison Barnes (Gems of the Game)

 • Height: 6'8"

 • Key Stats: 88 Three-Point Shot, 95 Driving Dunk, 86 Ball Handling

 • Value: Excellent

Harrison Barnes from the "Gems of the Game" set comes in at number 4. Statistically, he’s one of the most well-rounded small forwards in the game, with great shooting, driving, and solid defense. His release is smooth, and while his badges aren’t as elite as some other cards, his overall balance makes him one of the best small forwards available, especially for the price.

3. Fred Hetzel

 • Height: 6'8"

 • Key Stats: 88 Three-Point Shots, 82 Perimeter Defense, 82 Interior Defense

 • Value: High

Fred Hetzel is a strong choice at number 3. His stat line is similar to Harrison Barnes, but he excels with better badges, making him a more impactful player on the court. The only downside is his price—currently hovering around 94,000 MT, which may be too steep for some. But if you want a small forward who can do it all, Hetzel is a solid pick.

2. Scottie Pippen

 • Height: 6'8"

 • Key Stats: 88 Three-Point Shots, 97 Steals, 97 Perimeter Defense

 • Value: Elite but expensive

Scottie Pippen is an incredible card, and he takes the number 2 spot. With his Hall of Fame-level defense and a solid offensive package, Scottie is one of the best two-way players in the game. However, his price is astronomical—over 600,000 MT, making him a luxury rather than a necessity. If you can afford him, Scottie will lock down the opposition and give you a huge advantage, especially defensively.

1. LeBron James

 • Height: 6'9"

 • Key Stats: 89 Three-Point Shot, 97 Driving Dunk, 87 Ball Handling

 • Value: Best in the game

LeBron James is far and away the best small forward—and possibly the best card—in NBA 2K25’s MyTeam mode. His combination of athleticism, defense, and offensive capabilities makes him unstoppable. Whether it’s his 97 driving dunk or his impeccable defensive stats, LeBron is on another level. The only downside is his price—currently around 1.1 million MT—but if you want the best, you’ll have to pay for it.

That wraps up our list of the top 10 small forwards in NBA 2K25 MyTeam! Let me know in the comments if you think I ranked anyone too high or too low, and as always, have a blessed day!
